The Gallery of Kristin (Carter) Groulx

Once upon a time, there was a little girl and a box of pencils. Together, they made magic! ;)

Painting began at an early age. Always, even in Elementary school, Art was my favourite subject. I started drawing tigers and big cats around age 14 when I received a box of Prismacolor pencils as a birthday gift. The eyes were always drawn first (to give the animal "spirit" and then the body next. Playing with colours and shading was fun.

Why tigers? I'm not sure. I've just always liked them (and my zodiac sign is Leo, so maybe that has a little to do with it).

It was in high school art classes and University where I honed my skills as an artist. Working with fine arts, various mediums and canvasses, learning different graphic and layout techniques (all by hand - this wasn't the computer age yet). Eventually the desire to work with graphic design using a computer presented itself and the rest is history. That was nearly 20 years ago. Pictured below are samples of complete works from my art collection back from the very start to present, including peeks at various stages of book cover design and development.

Larger versions of these artworks can be found on my fan page on Facebook. Join me for all the latest scoop on the mis-adventures of Alyson Bell, as well as keeping up with my musings in the art world.

A little trivia: My graphic design company 'Moonspinner Designs' was named after the 1964 movie "The Moon Spinners" with Hailey Mills.
